Machine with a GPU is required

Linux

Since you are a Linux user, we will assume you are knowledgeable enough to set this up yourself. Please refer to the requirements here and documentation here. For username use your Solana address and team id use 1065248.

Mac

GPU folding is not currently supported in OSX

Windows

Below is a brief tutorial on how to set up a Windows machine for CAR(E)ing. Since every user's personal machine is different, its not be possible to provide a tutorial that works for everyone. However, if you have a modern computer/GPU, instructions below should be sufficient to help you set it up correctly.

Requirements

  • Windows 7 or higher, 32 or 64 bit

  • Intel P4 1.4 GHz processor or newer, or AMD equivalent (modern multi-core processors recommended)

  • Broadband internet connection or faster

  • GPU

    • Here is a list of supported GPUs

    • Nvidia: Latest driver suggested, you can search for your GPU driver here

    • AMD: According to the documentations, AMD GPUs are supported but we have not tested it

Folding Client

First, you will need to download the FAH Client from Folding@Home here.

After you've downloaded it, execute the installer and follow the recommended instructions:

After you have installed the client successfully, you should be redirected to the dashboard. Check Set up an identity and click Start Folding.

Under Name, enter your wallet address (must be a valid Solana address), for Team Number enter 1065248. Then click Save.

If everything was entered correctly, you should be prompted to the main dashboard, where you can see your wallet address, team number, and Solinscription.

Make sure your team is 1065248 and your team is "Solinscription CAREs".

Depending on your personal preferences, you can may adjust the power consumption, when to fold and whether you wish to stop folding.

Note that, closing the browser will not stop folding, if you wish to stop folding completely, head over to your system tray, right click on the Folding@Home client and click Quit.
